Bowmasters is a turn-based aiming duel. You and a target stand on opposite sides of the screen, you pull back to set angle and power, release, and the shot arcs over. Miss and it's their turn. The first thing I felt was the old Worms itch: the second shot after a near miss, adjusted by a hair.
The pull is the roster. The listings advertise 60+ characters and 60+ weapons, and they aren't just skins; each one throws with its own weight and arc. Add the ragdoll physics and the finishing moves, and every hit is a small cartoon accident. Beyond duels there are modes about shooting down birds or fruit, which work as target practice with a scoreboard.
The complaints: the finishing moves are played for laughs, but it's messier than the art suggests, so it isn't for every kid. The unlock economy is built for an app that sells subscriptions, and you can feel it pulling. And the duel opponents go soft once you've learned an arc; most matches become a formality.
Play it if you liked Angry Birds or Worms and want the shot-adjust-shot loop with more characters than you'll use. Skip it if cartoon gore bothers you or you want a real challenge, because the fun here is the physics.

Tips for winning duels
- Miss short, then add power. A short miss tells you more than a long one, because you keep the same angle and just pull a little further.

- Aim high on the body. Hits near the head tend to do more in this kind of game, and a slightly high shot still lands on the body when you misjudge.
- When flat shots fail, go high. A steep shot lands almost vertically and clears anything in the way. When the flat one keeps falling short, lob it.
- Watch the whole ragdoll. Let the hit play out before you think about the next turn; where the body ends up tells you how far off your angle was.
Bowmasters vs Angry Birds and Worms
The lineage is obvious. Angry Birds gave everyone the pull-back-and-release shot; Worms gave everyone the turn-based duel where you adjust by a hair and pray. Bowmasters sits between them. It's simpler than Worms, no terrain destruction, no team to manage, and meaner than Angry Birds, because the target shoots back. What it adds is the character roster and the ragdoll comedy, which is really the point: you play for the way a hit looks, not for tactical depth. If you want strategy, Worms is still the one. If you want a laugh in a spare minute, this.
