TubeGames verdict

Angle, power, fire: a Worms-style tank duel that gets its depth from the weapon list and the wind.

Reviewed by Max, TubeGames · Sep 18, 2026 · How we rate

Tank Stars is the artillery duel you may know from Worms or Pocket Tanks: two tanks on a bumpy 2D field, you set an angle and a power, fire, and watch the shell arc. My first shot sailed over the enemy by a mile. My second landed short. The third one hit, and that bracket-and-adjust rhythm is the whole game.

What keeps you going is the arsenal. StoreRider's version runs you through waves of enemy tanks, and each win pays coins that go into upgrade cards and new tanks. The weapons behave differently enough to matter: a spread shot forgives a bad angle, a sinkhole does what the name says, a rocket swarm punishes a target sitting on high ground. Wind shifts between shots, so the indicator is worth a glance every turn.

Complaints: the difficulty leans on your upgrades more than your aim, so a stretch in the middle felt like grinding coins rather than getting better. The coins-and-gems economy moves slowly, and a new tank takes longer to arrive than I wanted. Waiting through the enemy's turn also drags on the longer fights.

Play it if you like turn-based aiming games and want a reason to keep coming back. Skip it if you want real-time action; nothing here happens until you press fire.

Good

  • Weapons feel different from each other
  • Wind and terrain make every shot a small puzzle
  • Moving your tank before firing is a real choice
  • Plays inside YouTube, nothing to install

Not so good

  • Mid-game turns into a coin grind
  • Enemy turns slow the pace on long fights
  • Unlocking a new tank takes a while

About Tank Stars

Are you ready for an action-packed 2D tank warfare? Welcome to the Tank Stars, one of the best battle tank games !

Tank Stars was published on YouTube Playables on 2026-07-23 by StoreRider. In 79 days it has reached about 2.4M plays.

Tank Stars is a turn-based artillery duel. Two tanks sit on opposite sides of a 2D field, and each turn you pick a weapon, set the angle and power, and try to land a shot where the terrain and the arc allow.

Misses tell you as much as hits, since you adjust from wherever the last shell fell. Matches are short and the maths is simple enough to feel out by playing. Free inside YouTube with no download.

How to play: Set the angle and power of each shot, fire, then adjust from where it lands.

Good for: artillery game fans, quick duels

How to play Tank Stars

Phone / tablet
Drag the left on-screen joystick to move your tank, drag the right one to set angle and power, then tap Fire.
Desktop
A and D or the arrow keys move the tank, the mouse drags the aim, and Space or the Fire button launches the shot.
Levels
Waves of enemy tanks that get harder the further you go, with coins paid out after each battle.
Progress
Coins, upgrade cards and unlocked tanks carry over from battle to battle.

Every miss is information: note where the shell landed and change one thing, angle or power, not both.

Tips for winning more duels

  1. Read the wind before every shot. It changes between turns and pushes the shell further than you'd expect. Aim into it on long shots and cut the power on short ones.
  2. Move before you aim. Shifting left or right changes the angle to the target and sometimes puts a hill between you and the return fire. It costs nothing to check.
  3. Change one variable at a time. If the shot fell short, add power and keep the angle. Changing both means you learn nothing from the miss.
  4. Pour upgrades into one tank. Spreading cards across the roster leaves every tank average. The CrazyGames writeup says the same, and it matched my experience: one leveled tank beats three half-built ones.
  5. Save the big weapons for a sure hit. A rocket swarm wasted on a guess hurts. Land a basic shell first to confirm the range, then bring out the expensive round.

Tank Stars vs Worms and Pocket Tanks

If you played Worms or Pocket Tanks, the shape is familiar: turn, aim, fire, watch. Tank Stars strips out the squad management and the crawling across the map, and swaps it for a progression track of tanks and upgrade cards. That makes it simpler to pick up and easier to leave. Pocket Tanks has a wider weapon list and no upgrades at all; Worms has more personality and more to do between shots. Tank Stars sits between them, closer to a mobile game where the progression is half the point. If you want pure aiming skill, Pocket Tanks. If you want a reason to come back tomorrow, this one.

Is Tank Stars unblocked?

Mostly, yes. This version runs inside youtube.com, not on a separate game site, so the filters that block the usual portals at school or work tend to let it through. If YouTube itself is blocked, there's nothing to do about it. There's also nothing to download and no mod to look for; it opens in the browser or the YouTube app and you're playing in a few seconds. The versions on other game sites are the same StoreRider game as far as I can tell, so pick whichever loads where you are.

How plays are counted

Public play counts for Tank Stars are re-counted every day from the YouTube Playables catalog and shown the way YouTube shows them. The total and rankings above are as of 2026-10-10.

How we rate

The TubeGames rating is our estimate, not a vote. It combines public ratings of the same game elsewhere (CrazyGames 9.0/10 (48,096 votes)) with how it holds up on YouTube Playables: how many people play it and whether they keep playing weeks after launch. Once 10 players rate Tank Stars here, their average becomes the headline score.
