Dye Hard is a 3v3 paint shooter. Three teams, red, blue and yellow, each trying to cover the arena floor in their color while shooting the other teams down. The first thing I felt was recognition: this is the Splatoon idea, and it works on a phone. Standing on your own paint makes you faster and heals you, which turns the floor into both scoreboard and cover.
The loop is short rounds with a clear picture. You always know who is winning because you can see it, and that keeps every match readable even when six players are spraying at once. Team Brawl is open from the start; Battle Royal, a free-for-all, unlocks once you reach 50 trophies. Bases and paint towers give you something to capture beyond floor space, and the slide move, which only works on your own color, is the skill ceiling.
Complaints: solo players lose. Getting caught alone in enemy paint is a fast death, and teammates do not always come. On a phone the two-thumb controls get crowded in a fight. And the trophy gate before Battle Royal is a grind.
Play it if you miss Splatoon or just like a shooter where the score is painted on the floor. Skip it if you play alone and hate depending on strangers.

Dye Hard is a colour shooter played in an arena. You cover ground in your own paint and splash rival players to take their space, with the floor changing colour constantly while everyone fires.
Matches move fast and the state of play is easy to read - just look at how much of the arena is yours. It runs inside YouTube free with no download, so a match fits between videos with no setup. Good for anyone who likes arena games with one simple, visible goal to chase.
How to play: Move around the arena and shoot paint at the floor and at rival players.
Good for: quick matches, arcade shooter fans
Paint is speed, health and cover at once, so the team that paints its way forward beats the team that shoots first.
The comparison is obvious and fair. Splatoon is the deeper game: weapon classes, maps, a real ranked ladder. Dye Hard takes the core idea, paint the floor and swim faster on your color, and shrinks it to rounds you can play in a browser on a phone. What surprised me is how much of the feel survives: pushing the front line by painting toward it, the panic of stepping onto enemy color, the slide as an escape. If you do not own a Switch, this is the closest free thing, and it opens inside YouTube with nothing to install.
To be clear, this page is about the paint shooter by Famobi, not a hair salon, a yarn brand or instructions for dyeing hard-boiled eggs. The game is the one on the App Store under Dye Hard - Color War with a 4.7 from over 200,000 ratings and on CrazyGames with an 8.9. The YouTube Playables copy is the same three-team, three-color brawler, running on youtube.com, which also means it usually opens on school and office networks where game sites are filtered.
Public play counts for Dye Hard are re-counted every day from the YouTube Playables catalog and shown the way YouTube shows them. The total and rankings above are as of 2026-10-10.

The TubeGames rating is our estimate, not a vote. It combines public ratings of the same game elsewhere (App Store 4.7★ (217,956 ratings), CrazyGames 8.9/10 (25,695 votes)) with how it holds up on YouTube Playables: how many people play it and whether they keep playing weeks after launch. Once 10 players rate Dye Hard here, their average becomes the headline score.
