Four photos, one word they all have in common
6:22The four-photos puzzle from 2013, unchanged and still the best game to play with someone over your shoulder.

4 Pics 1 Word is the word game that was on every phone in 2013: four photos, one word they share, a tray of letters to spell it. Lotum's version here is the same idea with nothing bolted on. The first thing I felt was the frustration of seeing the answer in three of the pictures while the fourth made no sense.
The loop is short and sneaky. Most puzzles fall in ten seconds, and then one sits there for two minutes because the link is an adjective or a pun. The letter count is the real clue: knowing it's a seven-letter word cuts the options more than the photos do. And it's the rare game that's better with company. My partner solved three I was stuck on by glancing at the screen, which is annoying and also the point.
The complaints: it's an old format and nothing about it has changed. The photos are stock images, so some links feel arbitrary, and you'll hit puzzles where the word is a loose association. There's no way through those but trial and error with the letters.
Play it if you like word puzzles and want something to pass around at a table. Skip it if you want wordplay with real rules; Wordle-style games give you more to reason about.
THE #1 WORD GUESS GAME WITH OVER 400,000,000 PLAYERS WORLDWIDE! 4 pictures that have 1 word in common — can you guess the word?
4 Pics 1 Word was published on YouTube Playables on 2026-07-20 by Lotum GmbH. In 82 days it has reached about 221K plays.
4 Pics 1 Word gives you four images and a row of letters. The answer is the single word linking all four, and the connection can be an object, an action or something looser than either.
Some rounds fall in seconds and others sit with you for a while, which makes it good to play with someone looking over your shoulder. The puzzles are short enough to stop after any one of them. Free inside YouTube with no download.
How to play: Pick letters from the tray to spell the word that ties the four pictures together.
Good for: word puzzle fans, playing with friends
The letter count and the tray are the hidden half of the puzzle: cross off letters that can't fit and the photos often become obvious.
A lot of the searches around this game are for answer lists by letter count, and I get it, because the puzzles that trap you tend to be the seven-letter ones. I'm not going to post answer lists here. What I'll say is that the letter count is doing more work than you think. Seven letters with a doubled letter in the tray is usually an -ING or -ER word; six with a Y is often an adjective.
Cross off the letters that can't go anywhere, look at the one photo that doesn't match the other three, and the word usually appears. If it doesn't, put the phone down for a minute. It works better than it should.

The TubeGames rating is our estimate, not a vote. It combines public ratings of the same game elsewhere (App Store 4.7★ (137,996 ratings)) with how it holds up on YouTube Playables: how many people play it and whether they keep playing weeks after launch. Once 10 players rate 4 Pics 1 Word here, their average becomes the headline score.
